Matching support between the Tshwane University of Technology and Japanese universities

The secretariat of Kyoto University’s inter-university exchange program — a platform-building program for developing highly innovative human resources for the SDGs in Africa (Kyoto IAfP secretariat) — initiated support with the Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa, which wishes to conduct exchange programs and cooperate with Japanese universities.

On October 19, 2022, Professor Joey Jansen van Vuuren, Dean of the ICT Department of the Tshwane University of Technology, visited Kyoto University of Advanced Science (KUAS) with an introduction from the Kyoto University’s IAfP secretariat. Both universities introduced their schools and agreed to considering future exchanges. On October 21, the Dean of the Department conversed with Professor Motoki Takahashi, the Leader of Kyoto IAfP Secretariat , and Specially Appointed Assistant Professor, Tomita Izumi of the Kobe Institute of Computing (KIC) regarding establishment of educational exchange. Thereafter, Dean van Vuuren traveled to Tokyo on October 24th, where she met professors from Shibaura Institute of Technology and Tokyo Institute of Technology. Those two universities in Tokyo were also introduced by Kyoto IAfP Secretariat to Dean van Vuuren, to promote future exchanges.
