On May 26, 2022, the 6th Committee for Japanese Universities’ International Exchange Program with Africa met online. Each university sent 45 faculty members and staff in charge of the inter-university exchange (Africa) project. Motoki Takahashi (Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies, Kyoto University), who is in charge of the Platform Project of inter-university exchange (Africa) project, discussed the challenges that each university faces as well as the topics would like to learn from the experiences of other universities, which were summarized in advance from questionnaires. Ten universities discussed eight agenda items at this meeting, including the expansion of universities connections, accepting/dispatching students between Africa and Japan, online classes, class credit recognition, support for new coronavirus vaccination recommendations, TICAD8 side events, expense/travel cost burden, and risk management. Participants discussed the current situation and their reactions.
