In April 2021, the IAfP Office held a series of seminars titled “How to Write an Application Form for JSPS Fellowships (Fieldwork Version)”. Eleven graduate students from the Department of African Studies at the Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies (ASAFAS) and three graduate students from the Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies participated in the seminar. Fumitaka Wakamatsu, a program-specific lecturer at ASAFAS, gave five lectures on the application form while students reviewed each other’s drafts. The seminar gave them an opportunity to polish their drafts in a specific way to design a research plan based on fieldwork.
